JALINGO, TARABA STATE – A major security crisis has been averted in Southern Taraba following a decisive "pre-emptive" strike by the Nigerian military. The operation successfully dismantled armed militia groups that were reportedly positioning to launch coordinated attacks on several vulnerable communities.

Security sources confirmed that elite personnel from the 93 Battalion, stationed at Ada Barracks, led the offensive. Working alongside other specialized units, the troops stormed several identified militia hideouts in the Southern Senatorial District.

The operation was described as "swift and effective" by local residents. Several militia members were neutralized during the exchange, and security forces have now established dominance in areas previously considered high-risk zones, such as Chanchanji and surrounding Tiv communities.
