LAGOS ISLAND – Detectives from the Adeniji Adele Divisional Police Station have dismantled a network involved in the gruesome trade of human remains. Four men, aged 34 to 48, are currently in custody following a stop-and-search operation that exposed the illegal harvesting and sale of body parts on Bamgbose Street.
The Confession: A ₦10,000 Market for Rituals
The 46-year-old principal suspect was caught red-handed with suspected human remains. During interrogation, he provided a chilling account of his "business model":
- Sourcing: He allegedly scoured the state for abandoned corpses, specifically mentioning finding remains under the Adeniji Adele bridge.
- Processing: He confessed to dismembering the bodies into smaller pieces for easier sale.
- Pricing: Each piece was reportedly sold for ₦10,000.
- The "Black Soap" Trade: Beyond selling raw parts, the suspect claimed to use human remains to prepare "black soap." He marketed this product to unsuspecting buyers seeking "divine mercy," "good luck," and "spiritual favors."
The Investigation Deepens
The principal suspect’s confession led police to three other individuals identified as regular buyers in the illegal trade. These suspects admitted to purchasing human flesh, revealing a wider network of suppliers and accomplices who are currently at large.
State Commissioner of Police, Fatal Tijani, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for an exhaustive investigation. The recovered remains have been deposited in a morgue for forensic analysis.
