In a decisive move to bolster public safety, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has successfully dismantled numerous criminal hideouts situated in and around Gowon Estate, leading to the apprehension of 19 individuals implicated in drug trafficking and various illicit activities. This meticulously planned operation unearthed a significant cache of illegal substances, including Colorado, Indian Hemp, narcotics, and other prohibited drugs. Authorities also uncovered large quantities of hard drugs cleverly concealed within the trunks of parked vehicles, exposing the intricate network of organized criminal enterprise operating within the area.
Chief Superintendent of Police Adetayo Akerele, who leads the taskforce, emphatically reaffirmed the agency's unwavering commitment to purge Lagos of criminal elements, especially as the state approaches the sensitive period of the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. Akerele declared, "This operation underscores our zero-tolerance stance on all forms of criminality that jeopardize the safety and stability of our communities.
