Village Head Killed, Many Abducted in Fresh Herdsmen Attack

Nights of terror have once again descended upon communities in North-Central Nigeria. This past Sunday night, a village called Tse Yange in Nasarawa State, mainly inhabited by the Tiv people, was attacked by suspected herdsmen. These attackers, riding motorbikes under the cover of darkness, killed the village's traditional leader and kidnapped several other residents.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen burst into the peaceful farming village without warning, causing mayhem and firing guns, with the chaos lasting until early Monday morning. As of now, we don't have exact numbers for those kidnapped or hurt, as officials haven't released any statements.

This recent attack is just one of many deadly incidents believed to involve herdsmen. Over the weekend, more than 100 people were reportedly killed when armed men invaded Yelewata and Daudu villages in Benue State. That violence started Friday night and continued into Saturday morning. Just two days before that, two other villages, Mtswenem and Akondotyough Bawa, in Makurdi Local Government Area, were attacked, resulting in at least 25 deaths.

Yelewata, one of the areas most affected, is located right on the tense border between Nasarawa and Benue states, and it's less than a 40-minute drive from Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
