A somber development has emerged from the annual Hajj pilgrimage, as a Nigerian pilgrim passed away on the sacred Plain of Arafat. Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), confirmed the sad news to reporters following a national prayer session. He clarified that, in addition to this recent loss, another pilgrim had died prior to the contingent's departure from Mecca.
Professor Usman emphasized that the death on Arafat was from natural causes, dispelling any suggestions of a heatwave being the culprit. In adherence to NAHCON's established protocol, the identity of the deceased pilgrim will not be publicly released by the commission or the media until their family has been formally notified.
