In a shocking incident in Zaria, Kaduna state, a woman known only as Khadija is accused of beating her 11-year-old daughter, Fadila, to death over a missing N100. According to reports, Khadija believed Fadila had stolen the money, which was given to her during the Sallah celebrations. In a moment of intense anger, the mother reportedly grabbed an object and severely beat the young girl, leading to her death.
Neighbors claim that Khadija had a history of frequently beating Fadila, especially over small disagreements, often related to the girl's street hawking. Fadila's father, Malam Mustapha Musa, was at work when the tragedy unfolded. He returned home to the devastating news of his daughter's death and has since taken her body to their hometown in Kano State for burial.
Khadija admitted to beating Fadila but insisted she didn't mean to kill her, blaming her actions on "severe stress" she was experiencing. Local vigilante members were the first to respond and have since handed the case over to the police for further investigation.
