Protests have rocked Nairobi's central business district as hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police over the death of Albert Ojwang in police custody. The protests, also fueled by broader concerns about police brutality, saw youth and activists flooding the CBD with placards and Kenyan flags, demanding justice.

Police responded with tear gas, dispersing crowds on Kimathi Street, especially near the Nation Media offices where protesters had gathered to pray. Despite the dispersal, some demonstrators regrouped, moving towards Central Police Station while chanting freedom songs in tribute to Ojwang.

The unrest has led to significant disruption for businesses in the CBD, with many shops along Moi Avenue, Kimathi Street, and surrounding areas either closing or reducing operations due to the heavy police presence and uncertainty. Commuters observed increased caution among businesses. Major highways leading into the city, including Mombasa Road, Thika Superhighway, and Jogoo Road, also remained tense with a notable police presence in various forms of attire.
