The football world mourns the loss of Uriah Rennie, a pioneering figure who passed away at 65, as confirmed by the FA on Sunday. A true trailblazer, Uriah made history as the Premier League's first Black referee, overseeing over 300 top-flight matches from 1997 to 2008, beginning with a fixture between Derby and Wimbledon.

His passing comes shortly after he was appointed Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University, a testament to his resilience after bravely sharing his struggle with a rare condition that led to paralysis from the waist down.

The FA Refereeing Department extended their deepest sympathies, stating, "Our thoughts are with Uriah’s family and friends at this time."
