A 33-year-old woman in Mazowe, Zimbabwe, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. The perpetrator, who was known to the victim's family, tricked the child by claiming to be sent by her mother to perform a "virginity test."
The horrific incident unfolded on April 26, 2025, when the woman lured the young girl into a secluded area. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) reported that the woman inserted her fingers into her own genitals before assaulting the child. The assault was interrupted when the victim's mother walked in and caught the woman in the act. Even when confronted, the assailant insisted she was only conducting a "virginity test." The mother immediately contacted the authorities, leading to the woman's arrest.
This case has deeply shocked the community, especially given that the accused was a close family friend. The NPAZ emphasized that this incident highlights the disturbing reality of sexual violence perpetrated by women, which often goes unnoticed. They stated that such cases expose how trust can be manipulated to exploit vulnerable children and urged communities to be more vigilant.
