A shocking video circulating online has prompted swift action from the Federal Capital Territory's Commissioner of Police, Adewale Ajao. The video features a 14-year-old girl named Bashariya, who, in Hausa, tearfully recounts a horrific ordeal of abuse and starvation in Abuja.

Bashariya's story began in Zamfara State, where her family was forced to flee their home due to bandit attacks, seeking refuge in an IDP camp in Gwiwa Eka. She was then brought to Abuja with the promise of a better life as a maid. However, her hopes were dashed as she claims her guardian subjected her to starvation, beatings, and even burns. The heartbreaking video clearly shows the grim reality, with burn marks and various bruises, both old and new, covering her young body.

Upon seeing the deeply troubling footage, Commissioner Ajao immediately ordered the arrest of the woman responsible. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that all Divisional Police Officers in the FCT have been instructed to find and apprehend the abuser without delay.
