A recent bomb blast tragically claimed the lives of six individuals in Gwabro village, Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State, on Sunday, June 8. This devastating incident unfolded during the joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, casting a somber shadow over what should have been a time of peace and togetherness.

Police spokesperson Ahmad Rufai confirmed the fatality count but offered no further specifics about the explosion. However, an eyewitness named Hashimu recounted that the blast occurred in the afternoon while people were traveling between villages to visit loved ones—a cherished tradition during Eid. The explosion struck amidst one of these visits, turning a festive occasion into a scene of tragedy.

Garzali Raka, an aide to the Tangaza Local Government Chairman, confirmed that the deceased have been laid to rest according to Islamic customs. While official details on the perpetrators remain scarce, other village sources point to the notorious Lakurawa terrorists as the likely culprits. This group has been a source of terror for residents in both Tangaza and Gudu local councils, allegedly responsible for disrupting communal harmony. Villagers are urgently calling on the government to take decisive action against these terrorists to prevent further suffering and ensure the safety of their communities.
